This Monday the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife took
delivery of their new 20′ research vessel. Based upon the design of the
popular Denali model this boat has a 5 degree bottom and 200hp Mercury
outboard jet. Outfitted for setting up fish nets this vessel boasts a
tremendous amount of deck space and storage ”Which will be perfect for
stowing nets and totes full of fish” say Todd Hillson of the Fish and
Wildlife Department. He was accompanied by his partner, Mike Brown, who
put the boat through it’s paces at the Umatilla boat launch just below
McNary Dam on the Columbia River.
The vessel will be used primarily for setting nets to track fish
between the Bonneville Dam and the mouth of the Columbia River.
